The reason for this is simply that since there is so much competition in the hosting industry, and prices are so low, that there is really not too much to differentiate one host from another beyond their marketing gimmicks…at least on paper. The things you can’t measure The real differentiators come into play not on the objective differences (price vs. storage, bandwidth, etc) but on the subjective issues of service quality and customer support. Since every web hosting provider knows the subjective elements are not easy to evaluate, they assume most potential customers will rely primarily on the objective criteria. And so, to keep us from being able to do a simple objective comparison, they all have slightly different features in their hosting plans. There seems to be no standard amount of storage and bandwidth, for example, associated with a particular price point although there seems to be a common range. Similarly, there is no standard for the number of domains allowed per cheap web hosting package at a given price point as these can vary from one to unlimited with increments of 5, 10, and 20 in between. Who do you trust? So you do your best to compare apples and pears and then you make a choice and hope you got it right. Or, you can rely on a trusted source to help you make your decision. In our Top Hosts section you'll find only established companies who provide quality service and support along with excellent cheap web hosting packages. We have categorized them according to the particular strength that each company is noted for. |
